This expedition was the third expedition to attempt Carstenz Pyramid in New Guinea, now Irian Jaya, after Wollaston. The Dutch expedition climbed several peaks near Carstenz in 1936 but missed the highest peak due to surveying errors. It was the inspiration for Harrer's first ascent 20 years later.

This account of the Dutch 1936 exploration of the Carstensz region of New Guinea was never translated into English, but ran to several printings in Dutch in different bindings. Essential reading for anyone visiting this area.

Spine slightly discoloured. Fine, light foxing. Cover a little worn. A very good copy.
